Paul Komoda's Human Pathology Vol. 2 - Harlequin Babies

We are pleased to show some new work in progress pictures of Paul's recent sculpture set "The Harlequin Babies."

This is Volume 2 of Paul's Human Pathology Series, showcasing a very rare and tragic condition called Harlequin Ichthyosis.

All pieces in this highly controversial series, showcase a variety of different medical conditions often of the most extreme variety.

  1. This sculpt of the Harlequin Baby actually ended up being the study for another, larger scale sculpt.
The original intent was to have the smaller version be packaged with La Pestilencia , since it made sense to to me that the two most profound things I'd seen in my life should be released together.
Circumstances prevented that from becoming a reality, unfortunately.
I decided to take the first version of the afflicted newborn to completion, while starting work on the aforementioned larger scale sculpt. Ultimately, both versions will be available.

  2. Hi, Paul,

I truly love what you are doing in the Human Pathology series. Being exposed to the real pathology samples over the last decade and change, I am in awe of this body of work. It's truly hard to look away!

    Cheers-
