Paul Komoda's La Pestilencia

Pestilence
-noun
1. a deadly or virulent epidemic disease.
2. bubonic plague
3. something that is considered harmful, destructive, or evil.

Here's a little teaser of Paul's latest creation aptly titled "La Pestilencia."
This is a piece Paul's wanted to do for quite some time and finally after relocating to Los Angeles he found the time to dive in.
More pictures coming soon.

Crab Claws and Gears

Here's another update on the Fat Zombie. I've incorporated some new elements that will hopefully push him to a new bio-mechanical styled nightmare.

The crab claws and gears are part of a parasitic creature that lives inside the fat zombie.
Similar to certain amphibians carrying unhatched eggs on their back, the Fat Zombie is filled with a huge variety of disturbing and dangerous creatures.

I used some resin castings I made of Crab Claws (as well as a crab shell) from another project and added some small gears, screws and bolts. This is still very much a work in progress.

Thanks for looking!

More Fat Zombie Fun!

Once again I was at Erick's Studio for another late night Zombie attack. Using Super Sculpey is the fastest way to rough in additional forms. Wax is a slow process for building up big areas like shoulder, biceps, etc. That's why we try to block everything in out in Super Sculpey to start with but this guy was a different story all together. He's been through so many changes it's hard to keep track of them. I'm very happy with where he's going right now. Tonight I try an experiment to save some time...I will let you know how it goes!

Norm's Fat Zombie Update 3.24.2009

You can't make a fat zombie without breaking some limbs. I was over at Erick's studio working this evening and we had a great talk about anatomy and how to push our sculpts to the point where it seems almost physically impossible ... and then you should push it even further.
Mr. Fat Zombie is not looking his best detail wise, but this pass is all about locking down a final pose and taking it as far as I can. He hasn't had a bath in lighter fluid in a while so he's looking rather dirty and more cranky than usual! He should be used to this by now.
More updates this weekend!

Norm's Workspace

Yes folks, this is my workspace. Erick helped me transfer my Fat Zombie sculpt to wax last night, so you'll notice pieces of him in both the original sculpey and fresh red wax.And yes I know where everything is. Well...
